Sometimes, I just hate the rain, I hate how it is drab and cold outside and there is no reason to do anything. I spent my second day off doing just that. I am reading a book I started it a couple of weeks but the only time I seem to find that I can read is in the bathroom and well it is not like I live there or anything.
I watched a movie last night, which I probably will talk about either tonight or tomorrow. Sometimes, I miss being at home and doing as I please. I have to go back to work tomorrow night so I have I another half of day to relax and enjoy the nothing except for the falling rain.
This has been good for me, I am feeling a lot more ready to work or something.

Last Wednesday, we had our first parent teacher conference and it was nothing but good news. It seems like Sunshine is one smart cookie. The teacher went on about how Sunshine is so sweet and nice and a very caring person. She told us that one of the other parents said that their kid wants to color as nice as she does. According to the parents, the boy never really had an interest in coloring before and they would him and Sunshine to keep sitting next to each other. Aww how sweet.
That is not all though. Sunshine is one of the best kids at writing letters and doing really well with the phonics and she is ready to read. And because she is ready to read, she has enrichment reading which means she is in advanced reading. I was in enrichment reading when I was in elementary school. She brings home these dinky little books but she can read them and that is freaking awesome.
I am just so amazed how much she learned in just a few months. When she started school she could count to 20 with help now she can go to 50 with help. She can read words and even small books. The other day she was adding. She had some pencils in her hand. She counted the pencils in one hand and then counted the pencils in the other hand then combined them and counted all the pencils. I can see the wheels of adding just turning away in her head. She does know 1+1=2 with out counting. Let’s hope she does a lot better in basic math then there mom!

When I was in school I loved the Book It program. I got a lot of free pizzas from the program. I was hoping Sunshine’s school would do the book it program as well. Last week, I went through her folder and what do I see? A certificate for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut from the book it program. Now we have a reason to go to Pizza Hut. Woo Hoo
We have her parent teacher conference on Wednesday so we will see how well she is doing in school. She can count to 30 and she knows about symmetry and sorting and what is larger and smaller. I think the latter is due to the new math program at the school. As far as reading goes, she comes home with 2 books to read and they are really simple but she can read them and in my book that is really wonderful.
I am just amazed about how much she learned in only a few months. It is weird in one way to watch her do all these things when in the summer she could do a lot less. I bet she will be an adequate kindergarten reader by the time she leaves to go to first grade. I guess I should pull out the baby type books, so she can have books to practice with.
Finally we got Sunshine’s school pictures today and they look really good. Now we have to write our list and make copies of the pictures to send away.
I am looking forward to Monday because that is when I am off again. Ugh I am working a 6 day stretch and it is plain tiresome. At least tomorrow and Saturday night I don’t have to go into until 5 so at least I have some time during the day to do other things. The downside of coming in at 5, working until 10 pm but then again it might be a welcome reprieve from so many bosses. Nothing drives me more crazy than having 50 million people telling me what to do.
Enough complaining about work, there are better things to talk about then work. Of course, that is all I have been doing lately is working it seems like I live there but I only work 30-32 hours a week.

I am a big tea lover. Though I like my cold and and with a ton a lemon. I only ever tried green tea which I like with no sugar and a pound of lemon and black tea. I never tried white tea. It must be very popular because a lot of people at work buy it. I should buy some today at lunch and see what all the excitement is all about.
Sunshine is infatuated with the children’s book I am writing. She found it again the other day when I scanned in some of the pictures and put them on Facebook. She had her dad and I read to her a couple of times already. Tonight she wanted to help me with the book. She wanted to draw in the book and I said no and I promised her that I would buy her own book with unlined pages in it.
Her dad called her into the den and gave a couple of sheets of computer paper. She came back into the living room and started drawing a picture of monkey with skates. She must really like Monkies on Skates. Then she hands me the paper and a marker and tells me the story to go with it. For whatever reason she remembers the line, “fills their pockets with dates” because she used it in her story. The first one was short only a couple of sentences.
Then she drew another picture with a monkey wearing skates and told me an even longer story. If I think about it I will scan in the pictures and type the story. I didn’t edit her story, I wrote it verbatim. The only thing I did was add punctuation while I wrote down her words. Not bad for a five-year-old but then again I might be biased.

If you already read the book called “Born of Night” then I bet you are already looking forward to Born Of Fire the second in the League Series. From what I gathered this a series of books where assasins rule and make the rules and the characters in these stories have to overcome certain challenges to live. I am sure the books are better than they way I just described them. Anyway Born of Fire comes out November 3, 2009 so make sure you run to the book store and buy it.
